Donald (Don) Smith

Don has held many executive roles in the Utilities, Construction, Financial and most of the big four, tax audit and advisory firms, Don is currently the Vice President for Corporate Service GPS for Scotia Bank.

Don has a service record spanning more than 25 years of management, advisory and business experience. Don has held successive senior executive and leadership roles for 3 of the world largest consulting and advisory firms. 

Don’s strong background in Integrated Supply Chain, Plan to Pay, BPO, Category Management, Corporate Services, Finance, HR, IT Architecture, Strategy, Transformation and Infrastructure Services has helped many clients gain efficiencies and sustainability.

Before joining KPMG in 2008, and Scotia Bank in 2017, Don was a C level executive for Capgemini SA and Director in the  Outsourcing and  IT Architecture Group; Outsourcing Division, New Horizon System’s Solutions and Inergi LLP.  Don has successfully lead transformation teams and implemented processes that managed indirect and direct spend categories for the firm and its clients.

Don’s successes over the last few years have primarily been to identify and implement Transformations in the following areas:  BPO, Category Management, Travel and Entertainment, Legal, Facilities, Real Estate, Security, Cloud,  Saas, Iaas, Paas, Caas, APDEV,  outsourcing, shared services, and utility service programs.  Don uses a lead by example approach to his collaborative management style.

Certifications and Affiliations

Don currently holds his B comm. from university of Western Ontario, CET Certified Engineering Technologist in electrical and electronics  design, lifetime C.P.M.  certification from the Institute for Supply Management and is a executive sponsor of the IACCM (International Association for Contract and Commercial Management) accreditation program. 

Don has held many executive roles in the past for NPPC, ACT, PMAC, NAPM, NIGP, ISM and OASBO
