Kim Carnahan is the Head of Secretariat for the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance and the Senior Director of Net Zero Fuels, Americas at ENGIE Impact – the advisory arm of global energy company ENGIE Group. She oversees the firm’s advisory services related to alternative fuels and environmental attribute commodities, including offsets. She and her team also manage the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA), a joint initiative of Environmental Defense Fund, RMI, and several of the world’s leading companies to create a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) certificate system, driving decarbonization in the aviation sector. 

Previous to joining ENGIE Impact, Kim most recently served as the United States Chief Negotiator for climate change, and over nearly a decade at the State Department, she managed the teams that negotiated the Paris Agreement and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Agreement for International Aviation (CORSIA). Prior to her time at State, Kim was International Policy Director at the International Emissions Trading Association where she advocated for over market-based solutions to climate change.
